The ‘I’ Rewritten: Hybrid Narratives for Recovery, Reclamation, and Repair

Overview: This generative online writing workshop explores the creative possibilities of hybrid and autobiographical forms as tools for repair, identity reclamation, and storytelling from the margins. We’ll look closely at how authors use fragmentation, collage, persona, poetics, and nonlinear narrative to rewrite the “I”—especially after trauma, silence, displacement, or transformation.

Writers of all backgrounds and experiences are welcome, including those in recovery from addiction, trauma, or systems of harm; those navigating gender, sexuality, racialization, and/or class-based marginalization; and anyone for whom language has always been a tool for survival, healing, or resistance.

This space is created in the spirit of inclusion and care—for writers who have felt unseen or underserved in traditional literary or academic settings.

Facilitator: Led by Annabelle Fern Praznik, MFA — writer, educator, and literary editor with university-level teaching experience and a specialization in speculative poetics and hybrid forms. Her work lives at the intersection of recovery, voice, and artistic innovation. This workshop reflects both her creative practice and her commitment to inclusive, trauma-informed literary community.

While participants are encouraged to engage fully, camera-off or limited verbal participation is welcome if needed for comfort or accessibility.
