The Poet’s Room

General

What is The Poet’s Room?
The Poet’s Room is a studio for writing, recovery, and creative renewal founded by poet and editor Annabelle Fern Praznik, MFA. Through mentorship, editorial services, workshops, and field guides, the studio offers structure and support for people reclaiming voice, rhythm, and authorship—in craft and in life.

Who do you work with?
I work with writers, artists, and individuals navigating transition, recovery, or reinvention. Some come for literary development, others for creative or personal renewal. I primarily serve women and gender-expansive individuals—especially single mothers, women in recovery, neurodiverse women, and those navigating economic strain, reentry, or major life transitions. This work centers those who’ve had to build their own systems of care and creativity, offering structure and language to rebuild authorship on their own terms.

Where are you based?
I’m based in Colorado, and all offerings are available remotely via Zoom and email.

Narrative Recovery Mentorship

What is Narrative Recovery & Creative Development Mentorship?
This one-on-one process bridges writing, reflection, and somatic awareness to help you locate authorship in your story and build sustainable rhythm. It’s a personalized, recovery-informed approach to creative and personal renewal.

How do sessions work?
Each 90-minute session blends conversation, writing, and guided reflection. You’ll receive personalized Field Notes, creative invitations, and curated resources for continued integration.

Is it therapy?
No. While the process can feel deeply restorative, it isn’t a substitute for therapy or medical care. It’s mentorship grounded in creative practice, recovery-informed frameworks, and lived experience.

Who is it for?
For anyone at a threshold—recovering from burnout, rediscovering voice, or seeking structure through change. Writers, artists, educators, and those exploring new identity chapters have found it especially resonant.

How do I book?
You can inquire directly through the Contact page or by emailing annabellepraznik@gmail.com. A brief intake helps ensure fit before scheduling your first session.

Workshops & Field Guides

What is The “I” Rewritten?
The “I” Rewritten is the signature workshop of The Poet’s Room—a guided exploration of identity, authorship, and recovery through creative practice. It’s currently being adapted into a digital, self-paced format.

Are there any live workshops right now?
No live workshops are running at this time. Future sessions will be announced through The Poet’s Room on Substack.

What are Field Guides?
Field Guides are self-directed companions for reflection, rhythm, and renewal. Originally designed for mentorship clients, they offer gentle structure for daily creative practice—and are now freely available as part of The Poet’s Room’s Community Care Initiative.

Editorial Services

What kinds of projects do you edit?
I specialize in poetry, hybrid work, and literary nonfiction, as well as manuscripts grounded in lived experience, recovery, or transformation.

What does the editorial process include?
After reviewing a sample, I’ll send a proposal outlining scope, rate, and timeline. Every project includes detailed notes, a written editorial letter, and an optional live consultation to discuss revision and next steps.

Accessibility & Care

Do you offer sliding-scale sessions?
Yes. A limited number of mentorship sessions are available each month on a sliding scale through The Poet’s Room’s Community Care Initiative. These are reserved for women and gender-expansive individuals experiencing financial hardship, recovery, or reentry.

How do I prepare for a mentorship session?
Bring a notebook, a quiet space, and a willingness to meet yourself where you are. This work isn’t about performance—it’s about process, presence, and creating something steady from what’s already within you.
