FAQs:
The Poet’s Room
by Annabelle Fern Praznik, MFA
General
What is The Poet’s Room?
The Poet’s Room is a studio for writing, recovery, and creative renewal. Founded by poet and editor Annabelle Fern Praznik, MFA, it offers one-on-one mentorship, editorial services, and reflective workshops that help you rebuild authorship and rhythm in both craft and life.
Who do you work with?
I primarily serve women and gender-expansive individuals—including single mothers, women in recovery, neurodiverse creatives, and those navigating transition, economic strain, or reintegration. Many clients come from nontraditional paths or return to creativity after silence or burnout.
Where are you based?
I’m based in Colorado and work remotely with clients around the world via Zoom and email.
Mentorship
What is Narrative Recovery & Creative Development Mentorship?
It’s a one-on-one, recovery-informed mentorship designed to bridge creative process, self-reflection, and sustainable rhythm. Sessions blend dialogue, writing, and integrative practices that help you locate authorship in your own story.
How are sessions structured?
Each 90-minute session is held on Zoom and includes personalized field notes, writing invitations, and curated resources for continued reflection.
Do I need to be a writer to work with you?
No. Mentorship supports both creative and personal development. Some clients focus on writing projects; others use language, ritual, and structure to navigate transition or deepen self-trust.
Is this therapy?
No. While many find the work restorative, it is not mental-health treatment and does not replace therapy or medical care.
How do I get started?
Complete the Mentorship & Editorial Intake form. Once received, I’ll be in touch within a week to confirm fit and next steps.
Editorial Services
What kinds of work do you edit?
I specialize in poetry, hybrid work, and literary nonfiction, but also edit memoirs, essays, and creative manuscripts grounded in lived experience.
What is your editorial approach?
My process centers clarity, resonance, and craft integrity. I aim to preserve your voice while helping you refine structure, language, and emotional coherence.
What’s included?
Depending on the service, you’ll receive an editorial letter, in-text comments, or a combination of both. You can book Mini Reads, Standard Reads, Deep Dives, or Full Manuscript Consults directly from the site.
How long does feedback take?
Turnaround time ranges from 2–6 weeks, depending on the service level and project length. Estimated timelines are shared upon booking.
Workshops & Field Guides
What are your workshops like?
The “I” Rewritten is the signature guided workshop—an exploration of authorship, recovery, and the creative process. It’s currently being redesigned as a digital, self-paced experience, with future live sessions announced through The Poet’s Room on Substack.
What are Field Guides?
Field Guides are self-directed versions of my mentorship frameworks—structured companions for writing and reflection. The first Field Guide is currently available as a free download through the site.
Booking, Payment, & Policies

You can book directly through the product listings on the Services page or reach out through the Intake form.
What payment methods do you accept?
Payments are processed securely through Squarespace Checkout. Accepted forms include credit/debit cards and digital wallet options.
Do you offer payment plans or sliding scale options?
Yes. Through the Community Care Initiative, select sliding-scale or donation-based mentorship sessions are reserved monthly for women and gender-expansive individuals experiencing financial hardship or transition.
What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?
Sessions may be rescheduled with at least 24 hours’ notice. No refunds are offered, but credit can be applied to a future session if proper notice is given.
What happens if I’m late or need to cancel last minute?
If you arrive late, the session will still end at the scheduled time. Cancellations within 24 hours are considered a missed session.
Are my materials and notes confidential?
Yes. All client work, field notes, and correspondence are treated as confidential and stored securely. These are not clinical records but are handled with care and discretion.
